This photograph was taken on Bagdad Road in Potsdam New York, not far from Clarkson University. It was a beautiful fall day with crops in the fields to be harvested and vibrant fall leaves on the trees. Sometimes we talk about missing the forest for the trees. A friend and I met up at Roaring Brook Falls in the Giant Mountain Wilderness Area for a last of fall hike and then lunch at the nearby Noon Mark diner. There is plenty of parking there just off NY Route 73 and it is less than half a mile hike up to the falls from there. In this picture, you can see the snow on the peaks in the distance, but there was no snow down below quite yet.
